Need help with your formulas or making charts? Have a look at the tips below!

Totals: add up the numbers from each column: Example : Frequency totals are 28+6+1, etc.

Formula: =B8+B9+B0+B11+B12+B13

 

 

 

% of Diet Formula

This number is the frequency
of the animal remains found
divided by the total remains found.

Example: Vole: 28 remains
found of a total of 49 remains.
(28/49 = 57%)

Formula: =C8/C15

Biomass Units Formula

This number is the frequency of the animal remains found multiplied by the conversion factor.

Example: Vole: 28 remains found
times conversion factor of 2.0. (28*2.0=56)

Formula: =B8*D8

% of Biomass Formula

This number is the biomass units for the remains of one prey divided
by the total biomass units.

Example: Vole: 56 biomass units divided by a total of 109 biomass units. (56/109=51%)

Formula: =E8/E15

 

 

 

Prey Frequency Chart

Highlight the prey and frequency numbers (A8:B13).
Select Insert-Chart : choose 3D pie. Enter a title, delete legend, show data labels & %

Biomass Percentages Chart

Highlight the prey, hold down the apple key and then select the % of Biomass (A8:A13, F8:F13). Select Insert-Chart : choose 3D pie. Enter a title, delete legend, show data labels & %

  1. Select the range of cells your want to show percents
  2. Select Format-Cells (Apple-1)
  3. Click on the Number tab
  4. Select Percentages from the Category window
